Stupid Linux, Stupid Gateway...GRR!
Do you ever do something and find out it simply won't work, then think "Hey, I haven't tried THAT in a year, maybe it'll be different!"
The definition of insanity is to do something repeatedly and expect a different outcome each time.
For some UNGODLY REASON, I decided to INSTALL LINUX on my laptop AGAIN, which I KNOW will NOT work...and I did this WHILE I was writing a paper for my final exam which is PAST DUE.
STUPID, STUPID, STUPID...
I see you people and my friends using Linux and OS X, and I think "that's so nice...I wanna do that too..." Man...As much as I hate Microsoft the company, Windows JUST WORKS(tm) on my laptop, and nothing else does. You can argue all day about other computers and other systems, but my laptop must be REALLY "Special" (as in education :P)
Next time I try that...just shoot me or something...I don't know...:(

you should have probably went for dual-boot for the first time...makes things better if your computer does decide to hate Linux. :)
what did you try to install? I would recommend SUSE, it has been very agreeable with me when I installed it on other computers in the past, and I like the look and feel of it.
Yeah, I used to have a dual boot, but I got tired of that because no version of Linux would ever boot into 1024x768, so I re-partitioned into all Windows.
Someone recommended SUSE, and I had been waiting all day for it to torrent in, and when I finally got it I didn't feel like finding my copy of Partition Magic (which was on the desktop on the other end of the house), so I just installed SUSE on top of my current windows partition since people said SUSE would work and I wanted to do a fresh install of windows during break anyway (wow...that's a run-on!).
Anyhoo...Turns out that this time it's not the display drivers, but rather on of my wireless network cards. I was able to get SUSE to boot ONCE after I did something to get the drivers working (don't ask what - I don't know) but now it won't boot at all. Even when it did boot, my external card wouldn't turn on, which it will with Knoppix. And I STILL think it was using 800x600...but I couldn't be entirely sure since I couldn't get online.
I have 2 wireless cards - Internal ORiNOCO (b - eww!) and external Netgear WG511(G - YAY!) - and my Ethernet hole. Well SUSE is griping about 1 of them during boot - I think it's the PCMCIA and instead of just ignoring the fact that it can't find drivers for something - it just mocks me :'(
I'm going to try and get some professional Linux Guru help tomorrow...
